Elephants and Pigs

I got a new bento and a few new supplies!! But, I was lazy and did this bento in the morning which means very rushed. Spaghetti with a cheese pig, wine grapes, mini plums and some apple pigs in this rush of a bento. Annie loved the new box and the new carrying bag (oh, I need to get a picture of that too sometime, very pretty!).

Where do you get your supplies? Most curious...

I LOVE this blog and so admire your food creativity...

Thanks Lisa :) I just can't seem to stop myself! haha Especially when it comes to supplies.

We have a Japanese import store here in town which has a lot of supplies and at the best prices. I also order from http://www.jbox.com/BENTO/ sometimes, especially for the boxes and tools. For a lot of my cutters I go to either kitchen supply stores and raid their tiny cookie cutters or Michaels (or some other craft store) and raid their clay cutters or marzipan shapers. Oh and scrapbooking stores are good too but can get expensive. Sometimes I'll find something that isn't necessarily bento or food at some random place like a toy store too. It's like I have bento colored glasses, lol! Thanks for reading my obsession :D

Thanks for the info. :) I think of you often when I just make a cute little plate at home with food placed here and there and cut such and such a way to make lunch fun on a weekend. I think I'm going to check out the bento stuff.

Kurt wants to know who eats all the stuff you cut off. :)

haha, good question Kurt! It depends, sometimes Annie eats the leftovers, sometimes Norby or I eat them for breakfast, and sometimes I'll toss them under the arranged stuff. A lot of times, I'll save parts that go together like veggies and cheese, finely chop them and mix them with a vinaigrette or mayo to make a sandwich topping. Mostly, I avoid throwing them away but sometimes, that happens too. When Gretzky was still alive, he would often get some of the leftovers too :)

Oh I hope you do! I love that you already make fun lunches for the weekends, how fun! It is super addicting but I love it! There has to be some great Japanese import stores around Chicago but jbox is a great site too, tons and tons of stuff and usually pretty reasonable prices. Some of the specifically asian foods I get at our local asian grocery store too: quail eggs, kamaboko, etc. I'd love to see what you do! There are a number of flickr groups re bentos too, they are amazing! Okay, you've got me excited :)
